DelishTreat: Dexter's Pizza

05.25.13

It has been an all girls Saturdate because the hubby was out for a basketball game. I was craving for pizza and from my good experience in our previous visits I would always come back for Dexter's Pizza. Our favorite branch is at Caltex Ecoland (near SM City Davao) because like in the past we are lucky to have the place all to ourselves and the girls can have ice cream from Starmart because it is just connected to the pizza place.

The girls ordered a medium size yummy ham and cheese. Mamo and I had a medium shawarma pizza. Their medium sized pizza has 6 slices which is good for two persons. We tried their Wedge N Wings in both barbecue and spicy flavors. The wedges are good because they use real potatoes but I am not really into their wings. The highlight of our dinner is the ice cream. The girls had Cornetto while Mamo and I loved the Chocolate Truffle Magnum.

The night was not only full of pizza and ice cream but also the opportunity to cozily laugh about our candy crush successes and failures, model in our own right for a family photo opportunity and even if not expressed explicitly, strengthen our love for one another.

How was your Saturdate?

DelishTreat: Aling Foping's Halo- Halo

05.24.13

It was an upsurge night of sugar rush. It might have been due to my attachment (yay, i am not using the word addiction... hehehe) with sugar crush saga. The custard cake from Bistro Rosario was not enough to ease my craving for sweets so we have to visit Matina Town Square to have Davao's famous Aling Foping's halo-halo.

Honestly, I have been craving for halo- halo for a week now and I declined the hubby's invitation to have one at Chowking or Razon's. Aling Foping's is at par when it comes to halo- halo. The ice is neatly shaved that it is not even noticed when mixed with the ingredients. In addition, I also admire how the ingredients are perfectly cured and tasted heavenly in my tongue.

I have anticipated and have never been swayed but it made the waiting more gratifying and worth it.

DelishTreat: Bistro Rosario

05.24.13

We decided to have a Davao- grown fast food dinner so we headed to Taps Ecoland because it is just a walking distance from the Couple's for Christ center. Jelena's favorite is their HotSi (hotdog at sinangag) but with white rice and Jeka always go for PriMaSi (Pritong Manok at Sinangag). You can tell that I was hungry because I forgot to take pictures. After consuming food, I was for a photo op already and Bistro Rosario's ambiance is worthy of that opportunity. The cozy ambiance and pretty pastries were so enticing that we jumped into their shop for dessert.

Bistro Rosario has been a popular local name in Davao city. It is known for delectable pastries and mouth watering steaks. The main restaurant is at Torres street but they have a pastry shop in Ecoland.

We tried their heart-shaped choco chip cookies and custard cake. The cookies are the favorite of the girls but the custard cake of Royal Bread House is way better for me though.

Our life is the product of our choices. We can choose to live a sweet life. A life that may not be perfect or bed of roses but a life well- lived.

Wonderland: My Food Haven

Wonderland or Delish Treat? Delish Treat or Wonderland?

I personally believe that this post is both promoting a wonderland and at the same time relishing sumptuous treats for a foodie like me. This is a wonderland and delish treat rolled into one... hitting two birds with one stone.

In my previous post entitled, Wonderland: Subic (click to read), I mentioned that Boracay's tranquility and Subic's adventure and shopping spree gave these two a spot on my list. Today, I am adding three wonderland to my list because they have been a certified food haven for a big foodie in me.

Iloilo. Seafood lovers got to be in this place. Their wide variety of seafood are fresh at Cabugao and Breakthrough restaurants. Aside, from seafood, Iloilo is the home of the famous Ted's Lapaz Batchoy and dessert hub, Dulgies

Bacolod. The City of Smiles is not only known for the Masskara festival but it is also popular with its tasty chicken inasal, paella and other Filipino delicacies. Just like Iloilo, Bacolod has a good variety of seafood too. When in Bacolod, it is worthwhile to visit Bob's for their pancit molo and giant burger, Aida's Manokan for chicken inasal and pala-pala place at 18th street.

Tarlac. I am just proud to say that when in the sugar capital of Luzon, we do not need to be in restaurants to consume sumptuous food  because we have the best cooks in the family. So, except for the kakanin from Betty's, everything is home made. It is surely made out of love.
