Celebrating Davao City's Abundance

Every third week of August, Davao is celebrating the Kadayawan Festival. The festivity is highlighted with street parties, "Indak-indak sa Kadalanan" and Floral float parade. The city takes pride of its fruits, flowers, beautiful place and good people.

My friends and I had our own version of celebrating Davao's abundance. This is extra- special for me because it is my first time to go out of the streets for the festival. Our adventure includes:

HOME VISIT

Before invading the city, we went to the house of Jason and Janis Sarmiento to partake of their thanksgiving for their wedding anniversary and the birthday of their son, Johan. Johan, by the way, is such a genius. He can identify letters, spell and read even difficult words. Aside from that he sings and dances very well. Mom and dad did a very good job!

look at the food. it is so yummy.

After our sumptuous lunch at Johan's birthday, we went to visit the Severino fraternal twins. The babies are so adorable and both have long extremities. Mariel was sleeping like a princess while William showed us his cute dimples.

MALLING

Sales, discounts, bazaars are few things we look forward to during a city celebration. So, we headed to SM City Davao to window shop and have some snacks. Seriously? Yes, even after a big lunch.

 tons of items on sale

look at his Rizal shirt. very apt for the August celebration.
ma'am neng's fave brand next to Lacoste.
they have good blouses and pants too.

 after window shopping is eating...

yogurt from redberry but coffee cat's yogo is still my fave.

 the gang.

INVADE THE STREET

Roxas Boulevard (the street where the main entrance of Ateneo College is facing) was closed for vehicles. Our next adventure was to see for ourselves what was keeping the street busy sans the public and private transportation.

this jeepney ride was hilarious. i was laughing the whole time.
 the street was so alive.
 ukay-ukay
we sat to eat sweet pomelos in the park.

The next night is party like it's the the end of the world. We had a blast!

This is one Kadayawan Festival which I will treasure forever because I was with good company in a beautiful city of Davao. For sure, I will hit the streets again next year.
